While going to school at Western Wyoming Community College, I interned with another company and figured I’d probably end up working there, or another large company when I graduated. I’d never considered Williams until I met Mike and Calvin at a job fair on campus. I ended up interviewing with several companies and found that the level of professionalism at Williams was much higher than the others. Unlike other companies, they took all my questions seriously. I ended up getting four job offers from Williams, Shell, Marathon and Anadarko. My wife and I had some questions and found that we had a hard time getting answers from every company but Williams. We wouldn’t get calls returned or it would just take a long time to get a response back. But the guys at Williams were always quick to respond. I was really impressed with how they just did what they said they would do and in a reasonable amount of time. I chose Williams. Why? The offer was similar to the other company’s offers. But, the difference for me was the people. During my internship at the other company, I’d had the chance to meet some folks from Williams. I noticed they seemed much happier than the people I was working with. I took that as a sign of how my day would go if I worked at Williams – I’d be happy there.

I started with Williams as an intern in the Exploration & Production department at the headquarters in Tulsa, Okla., in May 2005. I did two summer internships and worked part time while I completed my degree at The University of Tulsa. As an intern, I was very impressed with my managers and the people I worked with. I liked that the company was growing and very active. I chose Williams. Why? Not only is the company growing, but I saw myself being able to grow at Williams too. From day one I felt like I was part of the team. During my internship experience I felt like I was a key contributor to the team and I was treated just like another fulltime employee. I also gained a lot of experience. In December 2006, I graduated and obtained a Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering. Now, I’m an Operations Engineer for Williams Exploration and Production business in Tulsa.

I was a new graduate from the University of Louisiana when I was recruited for an internship with Williams in Tulsa. My plan was to work for the summer and then start graduate school in the fall. However, I didn’t know then that my plans were about to change. My internship went really well. I learned so much – more than I imagined I would. I had heard stories of internships at other companies where all you do is basic tasks not even applicable to your degree. That was not the case at Williams and it made all the difference for me. I was able to really get involved in projects instead of just watching from a distance. The professionals I worked with were great at giving advice and I was impressed with how friendly everyone was. So, I decided to stay at Williams after my internship was over. I worked at the Milagro plant in New Mexico as an Operations Engineer for a while and now I work in Houston as a Project Engineer, both positions were with our Midstream group. Something that I think is really great about my experience with Williams is that my managers talk to me about my career goals. They know what I want for my future and they are helping me get there. The company is growing and I’m growing with it. That’s a huge selling-point for me and its part of the reason why I chose Williams. And, I did go back to graduate school. But now, Williams is paying for it.
