When one of our young engineers asked CEO Alan Armstrong if Williams would host a reception for the Tulsa Chapter, Young Professionals in Energy he readily agreed. Alan has always supported the next generation of leaders and he saw this as a way to share his insights and encouragement to members of this key industry organization. When that young engineer who made the ask, Jon Nelson, tragically died in a car accident last summer, the YPE reception took on special meaning.

Last week, when the reception was held in our corporate headquarters, Alan made a special presentation to leaders of YPE. Williams has donated $10,000 to launch the Jon Nelson Scholarship Fund for those Oklahoma students who seek a degree in engineering, with the hope that the recipients carry on Jon’s legacy in the energy industry.
