Early Career

An opportunity to grow

Meet Amanda and Misael, members of this summer’s 2018 intern class. Read about their experience so far and how Williams has contributed to their development.

Amanda, summer intern 2018

Hello everyone! My name is Amanda and I’m a senior at the University of Houston studying management information systems. Growing up in the suburbs of Houston, I was never interested in the energy industry. However, I changed my mind after meeting some of Williams’ incredible ambassadors at one of my school’s career events.

Every leader I’ve met has been down to earth and approachable, and they’ve encouraged us to reach out if we have questions. As an intern, I cannot imagine another organization in which I would have the opportunity to sit down with the chief information officer one day and the director of public safety another simply because I wanted to learn more about what they do and how Williams has allowed them to flourish.

I’ve had the distinct pleasure of working within the information technology project management office this summer; specifically working on one of the largest IT projects in Williams’ history. I have been entrusted with performing crucial aspects of the project that will affect Williams’ systems for years to come. Having the opportunity to learn and grow through meaningful, hands-on work has taught me more than aspects of project management, but also collaboration, self-improvement and adding value to all that you do. I will always be grateful to Williams for this amazing opportunity for professional and personal growth.

Misael, summer intern 2018

Hello everybody! My name is Misael and I’m a senior at Oklahoma State University studying finance. This summer, I’m a credit analyst intern within the treasury department at Williams.

This internship has allowed me to sharpen my finance skills by analyzing the creditworthiness of potential partners and their business opportunities for Williams. This hands-on experience into financial analysis will be an invaluable asset for my professional development. I’m excited to return to school in the fall with the real-world knowledge that I now possess and recall to fellow classmates and professors the countless financial tasks and opportunities that Williams challenged me with.

Williams has given me the opportunity to learn more about the oil and natural gas industry; including learning the basics of our natural gas production processes. With a few weeks remaining in the internship, I’m excited to further develop my professional knowledge and personal growth. I’ll be forever thankful to Williams for this opportunity and what its culture of collaboration and growth has instilled in me.
