Number of years with Williams: 15 years
Number of years retired: 3 years
Q: How are you spending time in your retirement?
A: Mostly doing all the things I’ve always done outside of work, just more of them! Reading (now in excess of 100 books a year), cooking, gardening, photography and traveling.
Q: Are you involved in any community/volunteer activities?
A: Much of my current volunteer activities center around my undergraduate school, Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas. I am a member of the Kelce School of Business Advisory Board, a trustee on the PSU Foundation Board as well as chairing the finance committee that organization. I’ve continued to volunteer and serve on the board of the Tulsa chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and participate in the audit committee for the Parent Child Center of Tulsa.
Q: What has been your favorite thing about retirement?
A: That’s a hard question to answer – there are so many things I enjoy. It has been wonderful to have the time to travel, both U.S. and foreign trips, and to be able to spend extended time with family around the country. But in some ways the best thing is the gift of time for small pleasures – lingering over a cup of coffee and the paper in the morning, reading into the wee hours of the morning when a book has grabbed my attention, or meeting old friends for lunch.
