Kiara Reyes’ education didn’t stop when she graduated with a computer engineering degree from Texas A&M three years ago.
As a software developer at Williams, she’s found each day is an opportunity to learn new things and tackle different challenges.
As part of a team that supports the 1Line customer interface system, she’s helping maintain and modernize programs critical to the success of our business.
“Modernizing the 1Line application to run in the Microsoft Azure environment ensures we continue providing reliable service and effectively meet the evolving needs of our customers,” she said.
Reyes said the 1Line system is a 24/7 application that represents the customer interface for all commercial business related to several of Williams’ regulated pipelines and storage facilities.
“It’s definitely been a huge learning and growth opportunity through this modernization project and other hands-on projects that directly support our business objectives.”
A Houston native, Reyes enrolled at Texas A&M to explore engineering.
“The first year you are able to explore different types of engineering and I got exposure to programming and that was really interesting for me to learn,” she said. “It’s a challenging, fun way to solve problems.”
She added she’s still solving problems, but with the help of a team invested in her success.
“That’s been the best part of my journey so far,” she said. “Everyone has been very eager to share their expertise and provide guidance to help me succeed in my role. It’s allowed me to challenge myself to continue to grow and has given me the opportunity to gain a better understanding of different areas of the business.”
Reyes said she’d encourage other young adults to consider a career at Williams, whether as a direct-hire or through the company’s internship and rotational programs.
“The biggest piece of advice I would give is to always be curious and open to every opportunity to learn,” she said.
