Niobrara’s safety calendar contest a big hit

Staff Reports

Williams Niobrara Safety Committee revived their Safety Calendar Contest, which drew a great response – no pun intended. Employees’ children and grandchildren, age 2-13, were asked to submit pictures to remind us to be safe at home, school and in the workplace throughout the year.

The calendar’s cover reminds people “Don’t text and drive.”

Thirteen pictures were chosen for the calendar – one for the cover and one for each month –and each winning artist won a $50 gift card.

Residents at the Douglas Senior Center judged the entries. The result was a calendar that fairly represented all eligible age groups and reinforced the Williams safety message.

“The Safety Calendar Contest is something that we will continue moving forward. It gives employees and their children an opportunity to participate and keep the safety message front and center,” said Brett Cavanagh, land representative.
