About Williams

About Our Existing Facility
Station 240 is a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) facility (the Facility), which has operated safely and reliability for over 50 years in Carlstadt, New Jersey. The Facility serves as a key component of our existing energy infrastructure, supporting the needs of millions of residents, businesses, and organizations across the region. During peak demand periods on the coldest winter days, the Facility ensures residents can keep their lights on and their homes warm.
The Proposed Project and Benefits
Today, the Facility operates under a Title V Operating Permit approved by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), in accordance with the provisions of the New Jersey Administrative Code, Title 7, Chapter 27, Subchapter 22 (N.J.A.C. 7:27-22).
Williams is seeking a modification to its Title V Operating permit to modernize the equipment at the Facility by installing new heaters equipped with state-of-the-art emission control technology. Specifically, this includes the replacement of the Facility’s four existing Waterbath heaters with four new, lower-emitting natural gas heaters. The new equipment will be sited within the existing footprint, and not increase the Facility’s capacity.
Williams takes our role as responsible stewards of the environment seriously. This equipment upgrade will go beyond compliance, reduce emissions and ensure the Facility is operating efficiently while reliably meeting energy demand.
